I teach private lessons from my home in Montreal, and will work with you towards your individual learning goals.  Generally, a few lessons on autoharp are enough to get you started, or reach a new level in your playing ability.  My teaching approach emphasizes learning to play by ear, and singing with the instrument (if this is something you enjoy).  I also supplement with sheet music and tab as needed. Topics covered in lessons often include: rhythm playing, melody, song arrangement, tuning, instrument care and chord bar set up, amplification etc.

Lessons are:

$30/half hour

If the above cost is prohibitive, we can find an arrangement that works for you.

I am interested in putting together a group lesson, and eventual autoharp ensemble in Montreal.  If this is of interest to you, please contact me.

I have also started teaching in more formal autoharp gatherings and settings, such as the John C Campbell Folk School, where I recently taught a weeklong Continuing/Intermediate Autoharp class focusing on the Carter Family.  If you are interested in having me teach or perform at your festival or gathering, please contact me.

She did a wonderful job of meeting our individual needs regardless of our playing abilities.”
